Looking for reasons to appreciate your life is NOT saying that you expect everything to just go your way. It is making a conscious decision to focus on what IS going well, and brings more of it into your experience.
However, if you EXPECT trouble, you will find it, as the same principle applies to looking for bad things to happen! As you start your day today, ask yourself:
What do I expect? Who will I interact with today and what would I like to see happen with that person? And if I feel negative emotion about this, I will take a moment to envision a more positive experience.
