We have become a world of justified anger and outrage. Our reaction to events of the day permeates all aspects of our lives, it lives just under the surface and colors all of our perceptions. Don’t get me wrong, anger is better than depression or self deprecation, but the philosophy of “Love First” asks us to examine our motivations and find a way to use the power of LOVE, COMPASSION, and GRACE to create a better world, rather than our anger and brute strength. The Love of which I am speaking is not about letting others behave badly, or allowing anyone to get away with unkind behavior. Rather it is how we cultivate our own nature to be one of loving kindness, patience, diligence to BE the best we can be so that when something happens we have the clarity and perspective to take “Right Action”.
True change requires a cool head, a strong heart, and a fortitude of the soul. Great leaders are those who have lived injustice and overcome challenges to teach us how to do the same, we can SEE in their own behavior how to face our world with the steadfast resolve to speak the truth of respect for all sentient beings and the actions we can take to create a more loving world.
Justified anger, the ability to feel resistance to acts of cruelty and oppression is a first step for many, to recognize and CARE that others are suffering is far better than indifference. But to fan the flames of that rage only hurts US! Our day is ruined, our energy depleted! The practice of “Love First” asks us to acknowledge this anger and then TRANSCEND IT! Through the power of Love we have access to the energy that creates our Universe, this power is always present and once accessed, we will be inspired to true solutions, choices, change.
“Today I will begin to cultivate a more loving perspective of myself and my world. From this place of Love I will be inspired to right action to bring more of this Love to all.”
