Sounds like the beginning of a joke, right? Well in a way, it is. There was a man who stood up on a plane and began yelling his opinion at people. The passengers felt they had to sit there, the attendants didn’t seem to be doing anything, and then when they landed, the airline banned him from ever flying with them again.
This is our issue; how can we express ourselves in a manner that is dignified and coming from love? Free speech is imperative to democracy, so stating your opinion is protected, UNLESS, you force others to hear it.
This moment has illustrated something extremely important.
If we want to be HEARD we must be willing to LISTEN.
“Today I will think before I speak, I will be conscious in how I express myself and make a commitment to allow the other person the same opportunity to be heard.”
