What would it be like if we only had one color, one car, one house, one set of clothes? BORING!!! We love diversity, so long as it’s not TOO diverse! I am joking of course, but seriously, we must have options or what a sad, mundane, and uninteresting life we would lead. In Love First the Beginning, I speak about the need for contrast and the ability to choose.
We make choices all the time without having a huge emotional reaction to what we did NOT choose. If you are at the dinner table and there are 4 foods you love and 2 you really, really, don’t like, you just eat the foods you prefer, you do not pick up the 2 you dislike and throw them across the room.
But this is what has started happening in our society, when we don’t like something we feel compelled to talk about why, and make sure we get as many other people as we can to not like it, either! Love First asks you to allow others their preference even when you don’t agree with it and respect the diversity that is necessary to the survival of the human condition.
“Today, I will make the choices I feel are right for me and allow others to do the same.”
