Compassion
The events in America of the past week have caused us all to stop and ask, “How did we get here?” My belief system is that we co-created this contrast so we can clearly see how to move forward in love and compassion, to listen and truly hear how others are feeling. All around the world all eyes are on the United States to see how we handle this level of unrest. There is a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King that seems appropriate.
“Toward those who have been misled, we are to show ourselves parentally affectionate so that they may perceive that we seek not their destruction, but their salvation.”
This is not to say they are children and we are the parents, but to bring forth compassion towards those who were so angry, so sure that their course of action was justified and necessary, that it required a violent and dangerous response. If we can step back and really try to understand why those people, people in our own lives and people in the world around us, could be misled to their conclusions, then we can give them our love and concern, rather than attack and anger. There is much to do to create understanding.
“Today I will stop and ask myself to view recent events with compassion and care for those who were driven to such violent actions. I will look at my own beliefs and make sure my information is correct and based in facts. And then I will hold us ALL in the Light of healing.”
