There is so much talk these days about a lack of faith, not in God, but in each other and ourselves. The suspicion of others and their agendas, the belief that we are not enough, these fears undermine our stability and happiness. But what is faith? “A belief in things not seen” This is how my Catholic schooling describes it.
For me, it helped to have this visual. I lived at the ocean for a time and it was a difficult point in my life. One day it became clear as I stared at this huge body of water that what I could SEE was only a fraction of what existed underneath the surface. I did not need to witness every tiny life form to understand that LIFE was happening right before me, I just couldn’t SEE all the details. And I became calm, having found the faith to believe that there is a POWER greater than myself who KNOWS and CREATES, it is not my responsibility to manage more than my own life.
“Today I will put my faith in the ENERGY that is all LIFE, in me, as me, through me, and I will know that this POWER is within all of us, it is this that I will trust to manage the unknowable, and I will have faith that ultimately, ALL IS WELL.”
