For me, hearing that the object of my life is to experience joy seemed like a fairytale. So
much suffering in the world and drama in my immediate experience told me otherwise. But my teachers on this journey of self-awareness have shown me that suffering is optional. How you respond to your challenges is up to you. We can have a reaction, be sad, be angry, be disappointed, but choosing to suffer, to prolong the negative story is our CHOICE. In any moment we can choose JOY. If you are practicing Love First you are committed to finding connection through appreciating yourself and the world around you. Joy may start as you
notice one of the many beautiful and awe-inspiring expressions of nature, or the tiny kindness of another human. This feeling can grow as you give your focus to experiencing more of these moments. It does not mean that negative things will never happen, but when they do, the balance of your energy will be living in joy and love, not fear, and this will help you through those tough times.
“Today I will choose to experience joy even if for a moment, by looking for things to appreciate in the world around me.”
