I write my quotes a week in advance, so now that we know the outcome of the election in the United States, I would like to ask this question: “Are you willing to listen?” Regardless of which side you are on, or if you live outside of the United States, there is a very strong emotional reaction to the outcome of this election.
As with any contest of winners and losers, to be gracious on either side is the goal. But in a contest where the results are not just a number on a scoreboard, but could actually impact our lives, our planet, the stakes are much higher and being gracious is hard to do.
In order to begin our process of healing the emotional wounds of this election, it is imperative to find your own balance, FIRST, and then, knowing that NOTHING is happening before January 20th, take a deep breath and be willing to LISTEN.
“Today I will be willing to hear the opposing view of someone in my life and just listen to how they are feeling, without reaction or judgment. I will consider what they say and try to find what we can agree on, and build on that.”
