Neutral Corners

Neutral Corners

A friend of mine said this to me the other day. We were discussing a sensitive issue for him and me being me, I was being pretty blunt. He got quiet and said that he needed to go to “a neutral corner” so he could think about our conversation. What a lovely idea! When we spoke the next day, he was calm and clear and thanked me for my perspective, even though it was hard to hear.

“Today, if I find myself getting worked up in a conversation I will ask that we go to our “neutral corners” and speak the next day.”
