I have just finished a trip through Europe with my sister, Mary. It has me thinking about all of the “sisters” in my life. I have 4 sisters in my family and several sisters who have come into my world that are not related to me physically. I have shared that I have not always been comfortable with other women, and that when I was younger I didn’t always trust them. I am happy to say that is no longer the case.
Women have always had a hard time letting go of the feeling of competition with other women, it’s all around us and difficult to escape. When you begin to practice Love First, establishing a relationship with yourself and appreciating yourself, no longer looking for approval from others, it becomes easier to appreciate each other, too.
I began to let go of the feelings of competition by doing one simple thing, whenever I could.
“Today, I will personally, and in person, compliment another woman, (not someone famous, just someone you meet during your day) and mean it.”
